how to wear out the young ones

There are many family attractions and parks within easy reach of the Coach House. These are our β€˜top 3’ in terms of location, child energy burning capabilities, and parental sanity.

Victoria Park

If you need a burst of child friendly activities within easy reach, just a 15 minute walk down the hill towards the quay will get you to Victoria Park. Set in beautiful landscaped gardens there are two large playgrounds, an open air paddling pool, an open air gym, an art gallery (Burton at Bideford) and a cafe (Cafe du Parc - try their melt in the mouth crepes!). Should you prefer to drive there is a large car park alongside Victoria Park. For older children there is also a skate park just a 2 minute walk from Victoria Park.

The Big Sheep

Just a 10 minute drive away and you can ride a roller coaster, drive a tractor, feed multiple hungry baby animals, sail on a swan, take a scenic train ride, bounce on huuuge pillows, watch duck herding, and burn umpteen calories in one of the largest soft plays in the area. The Big Sheep is perfect for younger families and guaranteed to occupy (and wear out) children and parents alike. Make sure you go armed with a few pound coins, we guarantee you will want to use them...!

Combe Martin Wildlife & Dinosaur Park

Believe it or not there are dinosaurs in North Devon! Thankfully they have been captured and contained in Combe Martin where they share an amazing wildlife park with lions, monkeys, meerkats and many other friends. Set in a jungle like valley, the park really does create the right atmosphere for a spot of dinosaur hunting. Please note however the valley is incredibly steep in places, so whilst all the pathways are buggy friendly, be prepared for a good workout getting back to the top!
